We are pleased to announce the availability of SensorSimple Cloud accounts connected to a live grocery store sensor network. Demonstration account access access is now available. Just make an account access request below.
Are you interested in a wireless temperature alarm? Would you like to receive email, text, and/or voice alerts, but only for REAL problems? Would it be helpful if the product is so easy to install tools are not required and it takes only seconds to set up and configure? Do you think that robust temperature graphing features with user defined alert parameters would be useful?
When we planned the new SensorSimple solution at RI, we wanted to combine the latest advancements in IoT sensors with a robust Cloud monitoring application. We have offered a preview of this approach in previous posts, but now we are pleased to announce SensorSimple TEMP-WiFi and SensorSimple Cloud are now available for a select number of free product evaluations. While both products have already undergone extensive development and testing, it is the various user experiences that we would like to evaluate for future changes, enhancements and upgrades. The initial Cloud experience will offer SMS and Email alerting, a range of graphing functions with various reporting and configurable dashboard features.
Monday to Friday the team at RI is developing, building, testing and shipping products. We take pride in our work and all share a sense of fulfillment each time we see one of our products in action as we shop our local markets. While this sense of accomplishment is rewarding, it can't compare to what we have experienced recently while volunteering in our community.
In part 1 of this blog, I recounted how the idea for Thermo-Simple as a product came about. In this post, I'll illustrate how the path from idea to product can be less than straightforward.
Like any real life story, product development can have its ugly side and is a roller coaster ride not for the faint of heart. You can be certain of two things. The first is that whatever you think it will cost, you can be certain it will be more, double, triple or much worse. The second is that there will be highs and lows. My uncle gave me great advice many years ago, "never let yourself get too high, or too low" - you need to try to keep your emotions somewhat on an even keel to be able to get through such a process.
In my life I have been both blessed and cursed with the "idea bug". Almost everyday I can be working on something with great focus, and suddenly the bug bites and my mind has to switch gears and begin daydreaming about a "new" way to do something, or a "new" idea. And when I say new... I mean new to my brain. Some are paper worthy, some are quickly forgotten when it's realized it won't work or it's already been done.
Ask any of your friends what refrigeration is all about, and you are likely to get many interesting and widely varied answers. For some refrigeration has to do with keeping things cold. For some it has to do with keeping things frozen. And for others its just a necessary evil - with an outside impact on utility bills!.
What if I told you that refrigeration is actually all about heat? Keeping things cold or frozen is the subjective end goal, but the process is actually just moving heat from one "place" to another. From a scientific point of view, this whole topic would be termed thermodynamics - but lets keep things simple and understandable for the purposes of this discussion.
Today, Refrigeration Innovation released a preliminary overview datasheet describing it's forthcoming SensorSimple monitoring and alerting solution.
Our goal is that SensorSimple will be the easiest wireless sensor and cloud monitoring solution to deploy and use.
We believe that SensorSimple provides a modern alternative to:
- Inaccurate sensor modules.
- Over complex installation and setup processes.
- Unreliable and false alarm prone alerting systems.
Today, the Refrigeration Innovation (RI) team, took a small but significant step towards the next stage of company growth. The www.RefrigerationInnovation.com web site went live, becoming the new anchor for sales and support of existing Thermo-Simple color-alert thermometers. Over the next couple of months the RI team will also use this platform as the launchpad of a new, fully Internet enabled monitoring solution named SensorSimple. The company is bringing the technology of temperature and environmental monitoring into the age of the Internet of Things(IoT).
